° Name that Baby and win a Gift Certificate! °

YAY! I decided to go big with those headbands of mine! But before I start, there is a lot to do and to plan. First of all we need a brand name for those suckers! And this is where you come in – Name that Baby! If I end up picking your name, you will win a $50 gift certificate to my Etsy store.  It’s that easy! I have a couple of names in mind, but nothing is really blowing me away yet.  I won’t keep my “Arfeiniel” name.  When I signed up on Etsy 3 years ago, I just picked a random name, never thinking that I would ever sell anything on there. Now that I’m close to 1000 sales, those headbands deserve a website of their own. Arfeiniel is actually a name you will find in Tolkien books and I used this name for my Everquest II character (yes, I was very much addicted at one point.. clean now!! lol).

° Help Us Save Handmade! °

savehandmade

You all know ETSY by now and fell in love with it. My Etsy addiction started about 1  1/2 years ago. Eventually I opened my own little store, full of handmade goodness. Now this is supposed to come to an end. The new  Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act will cause small toy and clothing manufacturers to die out. Many of us stay-at-home moms will have a problem: we won’t be able to afford the expensive testing of our handmade goods before they go on the market.

But you can get Involved and it only takes a few minutes of your time!

-Find your congress personand senators and write a letter like the sample here.
Particularly if they serve on the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection or the House Committee on Small Business.

-Send an email directly to the CPSC or contact chairperson Nancy Nord at 301-504-7923

-Vote for amending the law on Change.org, digg style: With enough votes it will be presented to President Obama in January!

-Place the Save Handmade! button on your blog or website to help spread the word to everyone you know who cares about protecting the little guy and preserving beautiful items made with love for our children.
