° uhm, I think I broke my bones…! °

that’s what my daughter said to me earlier….

we went to Monkey Bizness, which is a play place in Denver with a bunch of Jumpy Castles. And she was playing just like a monkey, having a blast and laughing like a crazy person. Then I heard her whine a little and 2 minutes later she walks over to me and says “uhm, I think I broke my bones!” Then she held up her little arm and I almost lost my mind. Her forearm was bent in the shape of a “U”. I took her to the front desk and we called an ambulance. They got there within 2 minutes and took us to Parker Children’s Hospital.

Still no tears from Aeris! She only got a bit upset when she saw the stretcher that she was supposed to sit on, but she didn’t care once Mike (the fire fighter) complimented her on her purple earrings and gave her a fire fighter teddy which she named Bob.

At the hospital the doc just took a look at her arm and said “oh yeah, broken”. They took some X-Rays and this was the result – both bones are broken and one of them was a split, which gave her arm the funky shape:

She was still all smiles and just in love with Bob. Here is also a pic of her arm, I hope nobody is grossed out by this. I got about 37 text messages and emails and everyone wanted to know how it looks like… so here you go   o_O

They had to give her an IV and that’s when the tears came. But she stopped crying right after I promised that she could pick *any* toy that she wants tomorrow. I know she will make me bleed… but she deserves it! She was such a trooper! I hope she won’t go for the $1500 jungle gym HAHA

They had to put her out, so they could push the bones back into place. I had to step out for that one… She woke up a little while later, but was still very out of it. Ate a popsicle and some pop and just sat there and smiled. They let us go home around 10pm and I am so dead beat!

She has a temporary cast, in her favorite color purple. We have to go back in 2 weeks for the real cast. Her arm is really swollen, so that swelling needs to go down first.

I know that she would be super happy if she would get some Get-Well cards! She loves mail and I think this would be a great time to get some mail ;)

Email me and I will send you the mailing address:

In the meanwhile please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!

° do you believe? °

in fairies that is? If you say No, then someone named Aeris would be very offended…

I got this McCalls pattern about 6 months ago, when Hobby Lobby had a 99 cent sale going on. I basically bought it because of the pretty picture on the front, but I knew that Aeris would one day lose her mind over her own fairy costume. And then Halloween came around. I was a bit confused with the material requirements, it just didn’t seem to make sense. But once I opened the instructions it was all very clear and super easy to put together.

The hat was a big pita! I ended up making a way easier lining and stuffed the swirly part with fiberfill. Works just as well and looks even better in my opinion (not as flat as it would have looked with the lining). This is not the best picture, but just so you get an idea:

The skirt was also a bit too big, so I added the grosgrain ribbon straps later and hot-glued the flowers on it. Hot Glue is my best friend, I use it for everything. Even if there is probably a special fabric glue I could have used, oh well…

so here we have the finished product – the purple fairy Aeris

Purple Wings are from Target, for $10. Total cost – $32. Time invested: 2 hours
