Come Let Your Hair Down!

I didn’t even have to ask Aeris what kind of birthday party she would like this year. We have been living Tangled at our house ever since we went to the movie theater last year. A Rapunzel party was the only way to go. The movie gave us of course a ton of inspiration. If the budget would have been a bit bigger… so many things that I wanted to do but was not able to pull out of my sleeve (we put this together in just 2 weeks). Aeris wanted mainly a candy table. The tower gave me quite a bit of a headache, but in the end I decided to just stack doughnuts on a wooden stick, which I mounted on a piece of wood. The kids loved the doughnuts more than anything! I bought a ton of different piping tips and planned on decorate the tower with a bit of frosting, but I was running so late and basically felt like a huge failure all day HAHA that’s the curse of the creative people – if you can’t get it done exactly the way you had it pictures you just think of yourself as the biggest loser on the block.

Don’t ask me where I got the Tangled stand-up. It was borrowed:)

Our invitations – very simple but oh so cute!

Font used “King & Queen

I should have made more cake-pops. They always go like hotcakes (or cakepops)

The Snuggly Ducking sign was the first thing that I made for her party. Just a bit of leftover mdf, some leftover chain and acrylic paints. I love it and I think it needs a permanent spot in the house.

I have gotten a lot of questions about the sign – I drew this out by hand on a piece of 1/2 inch MDF. I was not able to cut out all small details (one of the plants over the duck actually broke off) but I tried to get it as close as possible to the sign in the movie. I actually paused the movie when it got to the certain scene, to get the best look at the sign.

If you don’t want to mess with the jigsaw and wood, maybe you could make it out of cardboard?

I made honey challah dough to create miniature braided (like Rapunzel’s hair) breads.

Myself as Mother Gothel and my sweet Rapunzel girl. I made both dresses:)

Try Ebay to find a Pascal just like ours. Aeris got it as a present, but they are really hard to come by. It was a special promotion from Best Buy, he actually came with the movie.

I found the helmets on Amazon, here and here

Here are the favors that I made for the girls – Rapunzel hairclip holders. It took me 1 hour each to make them! I never want to braid yarn ever again.

The girls made their own hairclips

We played “hit Flynn Rider in the Face with a frying pan”. I printed out little frying pan images, Emmett’s Godfather printed the Flynn poster for us and the girls had a ton of fun!

Hans is cooling down

This spoiled little girl got a TON of presents! It was insane. And of course she was bored again the next day…. brat!

mhhh chicken!

it’s pretty much impossible to get a normal family photo. But what’s normal anyways, right? This is pretty normal for me.

Instead of lanterns I decided to be boring and let balloons go into the air. The girls didn’t mind, they were just tired and wanted to let their balloon go already.

PLEASE do not worry, we cut the strings of the balloons very short.

Did I mention that I never want to braid yarn ever again? This took me HOURS to make. I actually had to go upstairs and let hundreds of 40 ft yarn stands hang down from the stairs, so I could braid them easier.
